Christmas Eve (Sweet Christmas, Book 2)

Samantha Jacobey

Life isn’t always sweet, even for girls named Candy.

Candice Parker’s life has never been easy.

Plagued by losses and setbacks, each day is a struggle for the petite brunette and her young son. Last year, a tragedy forced her to accept the help of a man she had refused to even date. Today, she’s ready to take the next step, but will his rich and powerful mother allow it?

Gerald Ford had always kept things simple.

He had lived a fast and furious lifestyle, with no intentions of slowing down. However, when he finally decides he’s ready to take the plunge, it seems that the entire world is conspiring against them.

Will his mother, Eve, be their saving grace, or will she be the thing that brings his relationship with Candy to an end?

Anyone who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of person, never met a stranger and take up conversations anywhere at any time. I work hard, and my mind never seems to shut down, as I wake up often in the middle of the night with ideas pouring out and demanding to be dealt with. Of course, that means much of my books were written in the middle of the night.

I grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where everything is bigger, where we have warm weather and a central location. I love my state, my town, and my family, which includes my four sons, my significant other, and many friends as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much. And of course, there will be many more stories to come.

Last Chance Christmas, A Fairfield Corners Novella

L.A. Remenicky

All Brent wants for Christmas is his Jojo back, will he get his wish?

From the outside, Brent Halston and Jordan McKenna had the perfect life: the house, the dog, fulfilling careers, and their love. However, Jordan’s past refused to leave her alone, threatening to destroy all they had built together.

Without explanation, Jordan pushed Brent out of her life, leaving him devastated and confused. In an attempt to start over, Brent relocated to Fairfield Corners, bought an extravagant house, and mourned the loss of his Jojo. To keep herself from drowning in her own grief, Jordan gave everything she had to her career as a doctor, running the free clinic on the rough side of town.

As the holiday season approached, a frantic phone call from Jordan’s brother pulled Brent back into Jordan’s life, giving them the opportunity to reconnect. Battling the past and present, can their love survive secrets and betrayal? Would this be their last chance Christmas?

Trapped On Vail Mountain

Desiree L. Scott

Can they survive the mountain when both nature and man are against them?

Nina Williams’ world shattered in an instant when she and her daughter witnessed her father’s brutal murder. Everything in her life became trivial save one: protecting her only child.

With the help of a friend, Nina leaves the city in a cloud of terror and heads for Vail Mountain and the safety she prays she will find.

Rob Garland has seen his share of the treacherous conditions on the mountains. But even spring floods, summer fires, and hikers lost in winter storms have not prepared him to face the fear in Nina’s eyes.

There is no beating the odds on this one. The men who are after them won’t give up. It’s only a matter of time before the truth is revealed and the stakes turn deadly.

Can Nina and Rob hold it together when nature and man turn against them?

Desiree L. Scott has been writing since she was sixteen years old. There have been many influences within her life that has set her on the path that she cannot help but walk. A few of those influences consist of Karen Rose, Lisa Gardener, Nora Roberts, Cynthis Eden, Catherine Anderson, Laura Griffin, Andrea Kane, and Lisa Jackson, just to name a few. The weather is unpredictable, but the surrounding beauty of the country helps her creativity as she sits on her top deck with her laptop and coffee close by. There is one incident that will always remain with her that really affected her determination on writing and she would love to share it with her readers…..

Where Ebon Sounds Like Ivory (Norn Novellas Book Two)

A. Nicky Hjort

During Winter Solstice, a Fate Sister discovers her mother’s grave empty and, employing an enchanted harp, upsets the balance between life and death.

Norse legend has it that the arms of the Yggdrasil tree—a sacred instrument of Odin—are ever-reaching, and its survival is necessary for life itself to continue.

During Winter’s Solstice, when the search for her mortal mother begins, Za will have to cross over the Ebon Branch of the Dead—a feat that has supposedly never been survived intact. But if she does make it across and back home, she just might discover why she and the other three Norn Sisters of Fate came to be.

A fairytale at heart, this is the second chapter in the epic saga of the youngest and most fickle of the four Norn Sisters. The same feisty immortal creature who must discover her true origins to understand her inherent inner darkness. Only this way can she learn the meaning of unconditional sacrifice in the name of impenetrable love…when, as her destiny would have it, all the branches of such a powerful tree tremble treacherously in her tiny little hands.

A veritable unraveling of Snow White, the narrative of Where Ebon Sounds Like Ivory journeys through the most horrible of realms where shocking truths emerge. Here where death mimics life, obsession masquerades as devotion, and the most unexpected endings become the most surprising beginnings of a classic tale. One…you thought you knew so well.

Welcome to a place where the darkest of melodies births a miraculous tune of surrenderance. Here Where Ebon Sounds Like Ivory and Christmas, as we know it, begins.

A. Nicky Hjort is originally from Arlington, Texas- the second of five siblings, all of whom have strong creative talents. She currently lives in coastal central California where she practices medicine as an Ob/GYN. In between being a lovingly devoted mother and delivering babies, she writes stories that cross multiple genre lines- from Sci Fi to high fantasy, but all of her stories have thriller and strong romantic components. And for her clever reader, all of her manuscripts are subtly connected to each other, with their purpose to explore all facets of Love and Light. She likes to say that her stories write themselves, and in the process, often write her, or at least the next version of her hoping to emerge. A lover of all the arts, A. Nicky Hjort hopes her stories might inspire you to find your inner creative genius.

As for her heroes- they are as varied and eclectic as her choice of narrative genres, but when pushed to list her favorite influences, she would say James Patterson, Barbara Kingsolver, Patricia Cornwell, Dean Koontz, Gene Roddenberry, Shel Silverstein, Suzanne Collins, and Walt Disney.

I had it all, or so I thought. Until my husband betrayed me and my entire world came crashing down. I turned to alcohol and sex to numb my pain—a different city each night, a new man in my bed. But I’m sober now, and I’m working my way back up the country music charts.

Promo Tour: Love Garage by Liz Crowe

The Love Brothers, Book 1

by Liz Crowe

Genre: Contemporary Family Saga Romantic Comedy

MESSAGE FROM LIZ: This series is chock full of humor and heat … and REAL LIFE. It truly is not a typical, fantasy, fairy-tale romance but to me, that makes the HEAs that much sweeter. Please do NOT go into any Liz Crowe reading experience seeking billionaires, rescue-able heroines or cookie-cutter characters. These books are not for everyone but if you really groove on realistic situations, people behaving badly at times, and being redeemed by the love of family, friends, and spouses this IS the series for you!

Tired of Cookie Cutter Fiction?

Meet The Love Brothers!

WARNING: Do NOT read if you prefer your romance predictable and/or conventional.

Love Garage is open for business! In Book 1 of this compelling family saga-style romance series meet the Love family and see how oldest brother Antony deals with getting his girlfriend stolen by the baby brother Aiden. Hint: Not very well.

Set in horse country near Lexington, Kentucky, The Love Brothers Series is a saga of family devotion that runs as wide and deep as the Ohio River–except on Sundays when brothers Antony, Kieran, Dominic and Aiden work out their frustrations on the basketball court, Love brother style.

The Love Brothers: A family saga with humor, heat and heart…Not to mention beer, bourbon and basketball.

Meet the family:

  • Antony: The Big Brother
  • Kieran: The Athlete
  • Dominic: The Bad Boy
  • Aiden: The Baby
  • Angelique: The Sister

Rosalee drank a huge glass of water and lingered at the window, letting the night breeze cool her face, recalling the knowing arched eyebrow Paul’s mother had shot her when she’d dropped Jeffrey off. The concept that her own mother-in-law wanted her to be with Antony boggled her mind—well, okay, her former mother-in-law, she supposed.

What a mess.

“Well, that sounded like fun.”

She yelped in surprise, knocking the glass into the sink with a crash. Aiden walked in wearing nothing but a pair of sweat pants, sleepy eyed, hair tousled, as tempting and edible as she’d imagined. Anger mingled with mortification when the realization that he’d heard them just now slammed into her psyche.

“Jesus, Aiden. I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were…I mean…shit.”

He grinned, making her knees wobbly. “Obviously.” He pointed into the sink. “We’d better take care of this.”

As he did that, he moved with a sort of quick efficiency in keeping with his trim body.

His trim…young body.

Rosalee bit her lip, wrestling her new-found, inner cougar slut back into its cage.

“Thanks,” she said under her breath, not trusting her voice.

He winked, drank his own water and walked past her. Before he made it to the hallway, he turned, then to her alarm and horror, put his lips so close to her ear she smelled his toothpaste. “Glad you convinced him. He needed that.”

He took her hand and pressed something into it. It had to be her heated imagination because he would never brush her cheek with a kiss. He headed down the hallway, went into a room and shut the door, leaving her clutching the torn halves of her bra.

COACH LOVE (book 2)

Formula-Free Fiction Guarantee!

It’s time for Kieran’s story….

WARNING: Do NOT read if you prefer your romance predictable and/or conventional.

Over the course of a few tumultuous months, middle son and peacemaker, Kieran Love is plunged back into life at the center of the family, where he must cope with one self-destructive brother, one ill-timed reconnection to an old flame and a series of bad choices that land him in more trouble than he’d ever known existed.

COACH LOVE, book 2 of The Love Brothers, a family saga of sibling loyalty that runs as deep and wide as the Ohio River…at least until Sunday, when Antony, Kieran, Dominic and Aiden work out their frustrations at the weekly Love brother pick-up basketball game.

The Love Brothers: A family saga with humor, heat and heart…Not to mention beer, bourbon and basketball.

WARNING: Do NOT read this book….

….if you’re looking for a sweet, fairy-tale romance.

Every family has one: the black sheep, the problem child, the prodigal.

Dominic Sean Love could teach all of those guys a lesson or two and really should come with his own warning label.

Stuck in the middle of a boisterous group of siblings, he’s given “acting out” a new meaning from the day he drew his first breath. When he shows up at his on-again, off-again girlfriend’s farm, she’s inclined to shoot first and ask questions later. She doesn’t. And their lives entwine once more, for good, bad and ugly.

LOVE BREWING, book 3 of The Love Brothers, a critically acclaimed family saga with humor, heat and heart…Not to mention beer, bourbon and basketball.

FAMILY LOVE (book 4)

Not Just Another “Mother Daughter Story…”

The Love Family Women Have Their Say

You’ve met the Love brothers….now it’s time for Mama Love and her only daughter to tell their story.

A wealthy horse farmer’s rebellious daughter meets a sultry stable hand…but the result is far from the average tale of forbidden romance.

The epic saga of one family’s turbulent beginning is entwined with the challenge of a mother’s relationship with her youngest child, the longed for only daughter, Angelique. But a secret Lindsay Halloran Love has kept for years could rip the tight-knit clan apart for good.

When novelist Aiden Love publishes his parents’ story he has no idea the trauma it will cause. This mash up of New Adult Romance and Women’s Fiction will satisfy your craving for the REAL “backstory” with a twist that is guaranteed to leave you, and the entire Love Family, breathless with shock.

SAFE LOVE (novella)

The Oldest Love Brother Has a Secret

One He Really Needs To Share…

Family therapist and recent divorcee Margot Hamilton is dropped into the close-knit Love family by necessity but fate has a real design twist in mind. With her heart and mind closed to anything resembling an emotional connection, Margot is shocked to discover something about Antony the very first time they meet–something she tries, and fails, to resist.

SAFE LOVE, The Love Brothers novella is a tale of love’s realistic complications within the saga of family devotion that runs as wide and deep as the Ohio River–except on Sundays when brothers Antony, Kieran, Dominic and Aiden work out their frustrations on the basketball court, Love brother style.

Warning: NOT for the faint of heart. But then again it’s a “Liz Crowe book!”

Amazon best-selling author, mom of three, Realtor, beer blogger, brewery marketing expert, and soccer fan, Liz Crowe is a Kentucky native and graduate of the University of Louisville currently living in Ann Arbor. She has decades of experience in sales and fund raising, plus an eight-year stint as a three-continent, ex-pat trailing spouse.

Her early forays into the publishing world led to a groundbreaking fiction subgenre, “Romance for Real Life,” which has gained thousands of fans and followers interested less in the “HEA” and more in the “WHA” (“What Happens After?”).

With stories set in the not-so-common worlds of breweries, on the soccer pitch, in successful real estate offices and at times in exotic locales like Istanbul, Turkey, her books are unique and told with a fresh voice. The Liz Crowe backlist has something for any reader seeking complex storylines with humor and complete casts of characters that will delight, frustrate and linger in the imagination long after the book is finished.

Don’t ever ask her for anything “like a Budweiser” or risk bodily injury.

Release Tour: The Holiday Package by Leigh Lennon

A Jake Davis Novella: Part 1

by Leigh Lennon

Genre: Naughty Holiday Romance Novella

Ten days.

The Cayman Islands.

A holiday trip to forget the woman I lost.

Suddenly, I’m face to face with the sassiest and hardest of women, who may be able to make me forget all I left behind.

And I want her!

This vacation is about moving on.

The saucy little ginger flaunting her perfect curvy body in her next to nothing bikinis can be the distraction I need to forget it all.

Her fire and brimstone attitude leaves me in constant arousal.

And she proposes a holiday affair, one I gladly accept knowing this is a hell of a risk to my already floundering heart.

But in the end, will I be able to say goodbye?

Now, we sit in silence as I continue to feel her observation fall upon me, over and over again, while she doesn’t hide the fact she’s looking at me up and down like I am a mannequin.

Finally, being direct, I say, “Um, is there something I can help you with?”

Taking a sip of my coffee, I’m expecting her to sidestep but no, I should understand her candidness at this point, as she says, “I was just thinking what it would be like to fuck you.” My coffee makes its way out of my mouth. It would get all tens if this were a spitting contest.

“Oh, I shocked you?” she asks, almost timidly but with the little cocky smirk that is both behind her mouth, and moving up to those caramel-amber eyes of hers, she’s not attempting to be shy, not in the least.

“So, tell me,” I begin. “What have you come up with?” I ask.

Pursing her lips together, Sasha finally answers. “Um, let me really imagine this in my mind as I describe it. First, you have a long dick, like super long. It is thick and will fill me up just fine.” Instantaneously, my super long dick she’s describing aches. “Next, I would say you love pussy. However, mine is incredibly delectable.” Fuck, I try not to moan. “Next, I imagine you holding yourself up with one hand while you’re over me, licking my pussy, bringing me to a really good orgasm, all while you jerk yourself off. And by the way, if I had to guess, you’re really good with your tongue.”

I smile because I’ve been told this on many occasions but at the same time, my balls ache. She doesn’t say anything and I realize she’s finished. I respond, “I think that is a possible scenario.”

Standing up, she gives me a throaty little laugh. “Who knows, this may just be a long ten days.” She winks then leaves me aching in pain when she retreats to her bedroom.

Ah, fuck! This woman might be the death of me.

A jealousy that destroys everything in its path…a love that refuses to die.

He was behind the reception desk, leaning over a computer screen, and discussing something with the receptionist. He glanced up to check who was exiting the elevator. I had no doubt he knew me immediately because his brows snapped together, recognition clear on his face. His eyes tracked me as I approached.

“Good morning, may I help you?”

I tore my gaze from Gray’s to stare at the receptionist. He was slim, dark-eyed, and so perfectly groomed he looked like he’d been airbrushed for a GQ cover. His brow arched, waiting for my response. I ignored him and looked back at Gray, who remained frozen. Like a still-life, one arm resting on the back of the receptionist’s chair, the other bracing himself on the desk. Only now, his face was blank. My stomach tried to launch into my chest. Blank! I didn’t know how else to describe it. Dear God, please let my face be blank too. But I knew it wasn’t.

My heart raced. It was a cliché but it was true. I could feel it pumping in my chest. Gray was even more handsome than I remembered. His dark hair was short, but not military short. It was sleekly styled, like his clothing. Practical, but his jeans were definitely designer. He was more built than I remembered, the power in his body clearly defined by the silky black T-shirt hugging his torso. He’d always been confident; now it was something else. Something that lifted the hair all over my body. But my heart didn’t care. It beat wildly. Recognizing him. Wanting him.

But his face was blank.

“Hello-oo! Do you have an appointment?”

“Cool it, Blake, she’s here for Gray.”

It was the hunk who looked like Thor that spoke. But like Gray, I paid him no heed. I was locked in a silent battle of wills with Grayson Walker. And I was losing.

Shit. I should have made an appointment.

I sucked in a long breath. One-one-thousand, two-one-thousand, three-one-thousand…ever so slowly, I breathed out, never breaking eye contact with him. My heartbeat settled. Yes. I could do this; I was a master at control.

Acid trickled up my throat as he pushed away from the desk and straightened to his full height. His fixed gaze never left mine. My hands curled, fingernails digging into my palms. I always remembered his eyes more blue than gray. Gentle and glinting with wicked humor. Not anymore. Now they were slate. Cold and lethal, like the scalpels I used to cut through human tissue.

“How did you know where to find me?”

No greeting? No “lovely to see you, Zoey”?

“Gerald,” I croaked.

I swallowed hard, pushing down the pain. My voice was normally husky and low-pitched. Gray used to say it was sultry. I loved that, especially since the huskiness was a result of baby colic. I was a chronic crier as a baby and developed nodules, which in turn created calluses on my vocal cords. So sultry sounded nice, sexy.

I didn’t sound sultry now.

My skin goosed as I watched his lips set into a hard line. His mouth was one of the thousand things I loved about him. His upper lip a perfect cupid’s bow. His lower one, full and sensual with a marked indent. I used to tease him that he had the mouth of a porn star. And he did. God! The indescribable pleasure—

“…do you want?”

What did he say? As usual, I’d let the past smother the present. “I’m sorry—”

“What are you doing here, Zoey?” he repeated, clearly impatient.

Yes, what was I doing here?

by Hunter S. Jones

Genre: Women’s Historical Fiction (Espionage Short Story)

Born to an alcoholic, single mother in Texas, Luckie Stratton learns from a young age to keep her distance, avoiding getting close to anyone. She moves to LA as a young film actress, becomes enchanted by a swarthy English gentleman and flies to London in 1940 to join his secret British spy elites. The seductive blonde becomes an undercover assassin. Armed with her charm, a switchblade and a Derringer, this femme fatale never fails her mission. Disguised as an anxious wife waiting for her British ‘husband’ to return from battle proves to be irresistible bait to Nazi covert operatives.

All’s fair in love and war.

Luckie Stratton looked across her right shoulder into the mirror, then reached down and straightened her left stocking until the seam ran up her leg with the precision of a surgical knife. The room was dimly lit, and she checked her purse for the small Derringer pistol and the switchblade stiletto. Scraping the bottom of a lipstick tube, she applied the last of the Regimental Red she had brought from Los Angeles. She slipped her feet into her best heels and clicked off the table lamp. Smoothing her hair, she walked outside the apartment door, looking both ways before locking it.

Tonight, she had a date with destiny.

Dr. Smithers had been her mark for the last few months. Making her way into the misty haze of the London night, Luckie Stratton knew she had a mission to complete. Hamish had sent her a coded message yesterday saying that the German spy—a double agent—would be at the USO where Joey’s band played. She was to kill him by any means necessary. It was a job she had completed successfully many times, and what had earned her the nickname Luckie.

She was born in Red River, Texas; her mother had had a weekend fling with a doughboy she met in Dallas the weekend the First War ended. The boy left, her mother discovered she was pregnant two months later, and eventually moved to L.A. with the little girl. Her mother dreamt of being an actress but only became successful at becoming an alcoholic. Eventually, the young girl took on acting jobs to support her mother and herself. Fortunately for her, she learned early that if you didn’t become too attached to someone, you wouldn’t feel abandoned when they were no longer in your life. By the time she was eighteen, she knew she had a way with men; finding companionship with producers and businessmen was much more lucrative than being a bit player in movies. With her long legs and sultry voice, men were hooked once they met her. When she dyed her hair platinum blonde, the world was hers for the taking.

Then, war broke out in Europe and everything changed.

Genre: Romantic Mystical Mystery with horse racing element

Set against the exciting backdrop in the chase for the Triple Crown and filled with mystical surprises. Season is not a witch, but she can make a horse run and Ty’s heart race.

Season Moriarty is part fey and part druid. She can see the future and alter it. She welds control over the natural elements of earth, wind, fire, and water as well as manipulating life and death. She is an accomplished racehorse trainer, able to get any horse to run like the wind. Now Season has landed the dream job that will test all of her skills and abilities.

Ty Masters runs his horse racing business with an iron fist. No one dares to question him. He hires Season based on her reputation. Then they meet. Immediately, she questions him, challenges him, infuriates him, intrigues him, captivates him, and even intimidates him. Then she spellbinds him. But can she make a Triple Crown winner out of his willful colt?

Mysterious threats to Ty’s racehorses bring him and Season together in a race against the clock. As the stakes for the Triple Crown rise, and the mystery of who wants to destroy Ty deepens, so does the undeniable interest and fiery sparks between them.

The house was empty, a few lamps lit along the hallways. Ty dropped his coat in the foyer, ignoring the hook on the wall, wordlessly heading for the kitchen, his back straight and tension radiating from him like steam from a radiator.

Season quietly pulled out two coffee mugs and reheated leftover coffee. Pouring it, she tried to think how best to explain. Clearly, he was still thinking the worse and after what he had just witnessed, she couldn’t blame him. Would he even go so far as to fire her for what he witnessed? She kind of doubted it. But if he did not particularly trust her before, this wasn’t going to help. Okay, here goes nothing.

Setting the mugs on the table, she sat down opposite him, hair behind her, arms folded in front of her. Ty cradled the warm mug in his palms, steam rising from the top, the fragrant scent filling the air between them. He eyed her warily. Waiting. She searched for the best answer.

“Are you a witch?” he finally asked, breaking the ice.

“No, again.” she said. “I’m more of a druid.”

He blinked. “A who?”

“Druid. An ancient Celtic religion. I’m kind of like a fae or faerie.”

He shook his head. “What?”

She sighed. She really was terrible at these explanations. Another good reason not to tell anyone about her skills. “Okay, I inherited it from my folks, who inherited it from their folks and so on down their respective lines. Mom was a seer, she could see into the future, she’d have images or visions. Like a fae. And Dad communicated with animals and other things. It was almost magical how he could know what they were thinking or feeling. It sure helped his and Granddaddy’s successes as trainers. They were druids in that they could give life. Just like you saw now.” She gave him with a shrug. “So I inherited the Sight from my mom and the Gift from my Dad. Lucky me,” she finished with a lop-sided smile.

He never moved or blinked. He just stared at her, hands curled around the mug, not drinking, as if it offered some protection between him and her. “So you aren’t a witch?” he finally asked.

Shaking her head, she stilled a laugh at the comparison. It was so typical she supposed. “No. Witches are more into black arts and stuff, learning their craft from anywhere. Faes and druids inherit it from their family, learning how to hone it from their parents. Plus I can’t use my Gifts for personal gain. Only for good services.” She gave him another tentative smile. “Otherwise, if I were a witch, I would have turned you into a toad last night.”

That made him blink. “Pardon me?”

“When you broke into the bathroom and tried that little stunt of yours, I really wanted to turn you into a toad. But I decided not to. A witch probably would have anyway.”

He shook his head, baffled. “Guess I’m glad for that,” he said slowly. “Why didn’t you … er … do that?”

She shrugged, amused at his faltering question. “Misuse of the Gift. Unpardonable sin.” She grinned.

“Why? Would thunderbolts from heaven strike you dead if you had?”

“No.” She laughed outright at his suggestion. “No, it’s just I learned it’s not acceptable to do that kind of stuff. No real harm would come to me, but I know it’s not right.”

“Again, glad to know that. I think,” he said, uncurling his hands from the mug and pushing it away. “So I thank you that I’m not a toad now. Could you warn me if you ever decided to do that? Turn me into something?” He grimaced at the request.

“Sure, what do you prefer? A toad or maybe a mammal?” she asked lightly.

“I prefer to be a man.” He jabbed a finger to his chest. “This man. Me.”

“Oh, okay. I’ll keep that in mind.”

He stared at her, questions burning in his eyes. “So what else can you do?

Other than turn men into toads and bring dead foals to life?” He paused, inhaling a sharp breath. “You made that foal come out, didn’t you?” He paled at her silent nod, swallowing hard. “What else can you do?”

“Oh, lots of stuff.” Thinking, she pushed her mug away and started listing items on her fingers. “I am attuned to nature so I’m one with the animals. How do you really think I won the mastiffs over so easily? And Sky Hunter? With the Sight of the fae, I can sometimes get visions of things about to happen or images of things that are happening now. Even from a distance. It’s kind of cool, actually.

“And with the Gift of the druids, I can cure, heal, and weld powers over the elements and nature. I can make the sun shine for a little while or maybe work up a small thunderstorm. Light a campfire with two snaps of the fingers,” she added, winking, snapping two fingers. A flame sparked to life from her fingertips.

Ty blinked, astonished. “So you can see Sky Hunter winning the Triple Crown? Is that how you are so sure he can? Or will you just snap your fingers and make him win? Or burst into flames?”

“No, I can’t just make him win. I can only train him to run and win like any other trainer and horse. But I sense he has the potential to go that far. The day he jumped the fence he told me he was ready for an all-out run. I sensed there was no danger and saw no danger ahead so I let him go.”

“Uh huh.” He frowned at her words. Casting his eyes around the room he searched for answers, as if they were written on the walls. Finding none, he returned his gaze to Season. “So now what?”

“What do you mean?” she asked, finally taking a sip of the tepid coffee, then pushing it away with a grimace.

“Where do we go from here?”

“Where do you want to go?”

Ex-NFL star + snarky single mom = a touchdown of a holiday romance

After two Super Bowl rings, MVP status, and retiring from the NFL while still on top, Mitch “Flash” Flashman’s millions should make life at the ripe old age of thirty-five a blessing. Yet he’s restless, rudderless, and can’t tell up from down.

Roped into helping his brother coach a bunch of teenagers, Mitch finds himself playing defense against the many women in town wanting his attention. Except for one particular woman who doesn’t seem to like him much.

Becca Bragg is mouthy, vulnerable, and sexy, and she captivates Mitch despite himself. But Mitch has no time for a sexy single mom when he’s still trying to figure out who he really is.

With the playoffs, a boy’s future, and his own heart on the line, he’ll need to figure out how to pull the ultimate victory—winning Becca’s heart and keeping it.

For good.

Mitch stared at a feminine version of Simon Bragg. A few inches shorter than her behemoth son, she had long, dark-brown hair, greenish-brown eyes, and a frown that would do Simon proud.

A subtle glance and he catalogued her feminine assets. Check, check, and check. A stunner if not for the scowl on her face. Her assistant, the other pretty brunette he’d seen with Simon at the game, just grinned at him before hustling away.

“Hello. Mrs. Bragg?”

“Yes?” Cool and collected.

Funny, but his heart was racing. Mitch had been with supermodels, actresses, professional athletes. Some had possessed the same qualities Rebecca Bragg did, that essence of attraction that sparked something in his brain…and in other places. But Mitch didn’t do married chicks. Ever. Best to remember that.

He cleared his throat. “I’d like to talk to you about Simon.”

Her frown deepened. “Is he okay? What happened?”

Mitch had debated how to broach the subject. After talking to Deacon, they’d decided Mitch should be the one to talk to her. He still wasn’t sure how they’d come up with that, other than that his brother was a scum-sucking wimp who’d rather face a firing squad than an irate mother.

“As far as I know, Simon is fine. I wanted to talk to you about his attitude though.”

She snorted.

Just like her son.

“And before you say this is somehow about me not understanding him because I’m the new guy, you need to know that Simon has been acting out and is pretty much annoying most of the team.”

She studied him in silence.

He wondered what she saw. Did she see the regular guy who’d rather be running down a field or hiding out in his home, reading history books and watching movies? Or did she see the confident, laughing playboy everyone thought him to be?

“Come with me.” She turned and walked into the back of her teahouse.

He followed her toward the sweet smells coming from a small kitchen. Entranced by the scent of vanilla and cinnamon, he took a big sniff. “What are you making?”

“Sticky buns, my version of cinnamon rolls. Hold on.” She took a few steps toward the doorway and shouted, “Nora, can you watch the front? I’m in a meeting.”

Nora laughed and said something he couldn’t make out but apparently Rebecca could.

She flushed and returned, putting the center island between them. He wondered if her husband had a hard time dealing with her moods, then thought the lucky guy probably didn’t much care. A woman who could bake and looked like her? A win-win…until she opened her mouth.

“Well?” She waited.

He just stared.

“I’m trying to figure out how to say this without you getting offended. I would have called your husband, but Simon wouldn’t give me his number.”

Something that looked like pain flashed across her face. “My husband is dead. Now what did you want to talk about?”

Wow. Talk about stepping right into it. Might have been nice if the kid had explained his father was no longer alive when Mitch had mentioned the guy. “Sorry. Simon didn’t tell me.”

She sighed. “So what has my son done that brings the ‘Amazing Flash’ to my lowly shop?”

He ignored the heat on his face. “You know, if you’d heard the whole conversation, you might not be so quick to judge.”

“You’re here to talk about Simon?”

Fine. He wouldn’t explain himself to this sexy, stuck-up viper. Wait. Where had sexy come from? Rebecca Bragg was more girl-next-door…with a side of sexy. Damn her full mouth.

It was just gratitude, she told herself, tearing her eyes from him and watching the road, even as every fiber of her being was aware of him sitting beside her. Close enough to touch. Close enough to pat him on the back and ask him, are you okay? Close enough to kiss him on the cheek, his jaw, his neck…

Danica, she told herself, stop it! He had given her his gas mask. Big deal. So she was thankful.

On to the next adventure!

So here’s my review, originally posted on my author website:

Last night, I stumbled on Holiday Heat: A Christmas Dramedy by Carrie Lomax, a seemingly “holiday” novel with its Christmas glitter and mistletoe on the cover that’s not exactly a holiday novel. It’s set during the holidays, yes, but it’s *not a holiday novel. Family dynamics? Check. Sibling rivalry and protectiveness? Check. Steamy AF hot scenes? Checkcheckcheck.

The first thing that caught my attention was the smart and witty heroine, Alyssa Carlisle, who lives in a studio apartment in Midtown Manhattan and she’s just been stood up by her rich boyfriend of two years, Zach. He was supposed to propose on Christmas Eve but he’s five hours late and when he does show up, he’s drunk and tells her he got cold feet. Apparently, it’s not the first time Zach has pulled something like this and so, with a plane to catch in the morning where they were supposed to spend Christmas with her parents in Tampa, Florida, she tells Zach they’re over, to have a great life, and not to talk to her ever again.

Tampa is where we meet Marc Del Luna, the oldest son of the Del Lunas who live next door to her parents. He’s never finished college but he’s smoking hot, “the kind of guy who made girls’ panties wet just by walking into the room—at least, the ones like her who wore undergarments.” And apparently, Alyssa has been secretly crushing on him since her family moved into the neighborhood almost ten years ago… but there was something about Marc being known as the resident man-whore that made her steer clear.

While taking out the trash, they bump into each other and sparks fly, especially when Marc learns she’s suddenly single. Who knew the (play)boy next door liked her all these years?  To Alyssa, the prospect of a one-night stand or a vacation fling with Marc before she returns to New York is looking better and better every minute.

But before one assumes that Marc is simply the manwhore everyone thinks he is, there’s actually more to him than meets the eye, just as there’s more to the sibling dynamics between him and Julian as well as Alyssa and Janelle, her younger sister stuck in a dead-end job and drowning in student loans.

What I love the most about Holiday Heat is that it’s a refreshing take on romance from the usual fare that I’ve been picking up lately (dark romance, secret baby, and let-me-top-the-sex-in-this-book-with-more-sex… oh wait, that’s my book!). It’s a new voice and I love me some new voices especially since I just finished A Man Called Ove and needed something light and fun and witty.

I like how Lomax explores certain social issues that are at the forefront today and for the most part, they’re deftly interwoven into the storyline. The sparks that fly between Alyssa and Marc are super hot and deserving of New Year’s Eve fireworks, and the scenes between them are super steamy as well. But that’s not going to mean that everything is smooth sailing either. They go through some rough patches like an unexpected visitor, a reality TV show-inspired contest, and some good measure of angst.  And for a holiday tryst that’s hot and heavy from the get-go, will their fling last long after the New Year’s Eve fireworks are all done?

So, yup, except for the ending which kinda felt flat for me because I wanted more Aly and Marc, I enjoyed Holiday Heat: A Christmas Dramedy by Carrie Lomax and highly recommend it if you like a contemporary romance with a chock-full of really well-written steamy scenes and high octave chemistry.

*The only reason I say it’s NOT a holiday novel is that holiday novels get pigeonholed during the holidays. Which is a disservice to this witty and layered novel that’s more about relationships and romance than the holiday itself. It’s just SET in a holiday and that’s about it. But that’s also the Marketing me talking. I hate seeing good novels get pushed aside because people assume if it’s holiday-themed then it’s kinda “holiday-themed” which to me, would be sugar and spice and mistletoe and family and eggnog and chocolate with marshmallows and cuddles in front of the fireplace. None of which brings up steamy AF romance in all its glory. I mean, come on. When do you watch A Christmas Story? While You Were Sleeping and so many other stories that are set during the holidays???

The bruises that Julia lives with are invisible to those closest to her. She lost so much early in life, more than most could survive. Now, she grapples with resentment towards her husband because of all the empty promises he’s made. In the midst of this turmoil, test results reveal an illness she is not sure she will survive.

For Julia, it is not her life that may be cut short that consumes her, but how her family will endure without her there. As everyone rallies around Julia while she fights like hell to live, she learns that family, along with love, comes in many shapes and sizes. It is her family that gives her the strength to fight the biggest battle of her life; one she doesn’t want to lose.

Joe Barnett was a quiet man, but he felt as if the weight of the world rested on his shoulders. He’d do anything for his parents, and he had actually done everything within his control up to this point. It was just not enough. His dreams were slipping away because being an architect was his calling in life. Though as big as those dreams were, taking care of his parents was more important to him than anything else.

Deciding to take a quick dinner break, he started to dig into a burger at his favorite watering hole. Though tonight, with work piling up, all he could have was water. No beer for him. He noticed a very attractive girl at the bar but was caught up in a soccer game and missed his opportunity. Well, he wanted more of a conversation with the pretty girl than to ask her to pass a condiment. Wanting to kick himself, he instead turned to her at a commercial break and tried to correct his rudeness with an apology. The girl was quick to smile and accepted it as he made a small joke at the expense of his sodium intake.

She immediately said, “Oh, that’s ok. I know how men are with their games. My best friend, well minus the guy thing, is just like that. You play soccer, then?” Her dark eyes were inquisitive but sad. That was something Joe knew about.

“I used to, in high school and some in college.” He looked down at her beer, “Very few girls know how good dark beer is.”

“I know right, this is the only kind of beer I can drink. My dad started me out young I guess.” She smiled. “What about you? Aren’t you a beer drinker?”

He replied, “Normally, yes, but I just stopped by tonight for a quick bite to eat. I have some work I’ve got to get done. Beer just doesn’t mix with that.”

“Oh, I get that!” The girl said. Her meek smile was enticing, and Joe needed a way to insert himself into a conversation that would go somewhere with this beautiful young woman.

“So, you just come to Irish bars and drink dark beer by yourself?” He asked trying not to look her up and down, though she was worthy of being admired. He surmised she had to be at least twenty-one by the fact she’d been drinking but didn’t look much older. They were close in age to Joe being twenty-three.

The young woman responded, “No actually I’m taking a large class load this semester, and my best friend dragged me out tonight claiming that I need some sort of break.”

“You come here often? I’m here twice a week and have never seen you.” Joe asked.

“I’ve not been here in a long time. My dad is a good friend with the owner and we’d come here for dinner every Friday night. But I was at ECU for almost two years and just transferred to Wake last semester.”

He looked at her then smiled, “You are a Demon Deacon, I’m sorry.” He said with a wink.

“Well, what ACC team did you play for then, since your allegiance lies with somewhere else?” If he didn’t know any better, he would have thought her tone was almost borderline frisky and coy.

“I was at NC State. I played soccer but wasn’t able to graduate. My dad needed help running the family business, so I came home. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Joe didn’t elaborate why his dad needed him; not wanting to burden the cute girl with his problems. “Why did you transfer colleges?” He asked, changing the subject quickly from himself.

“It’s a long story.” She quickly answered.

“Oh, I see.”

“What do you mean, you see?” She asked with a snicker.

“All long stories like that normally follow with some tragedy concerning a guy.” He could only smirk at his own words. This was fun, he was actually having fun.

She could only laugh, “Well, ok smarty pants! You think you’re so smart.”

“Where did your friend go? The friend you claim came with you?” He asked with an even more flirtatious tone in his voice. He’d been having a free-flowing conversation with this girl that he didn’t want to end. Her eyes were infectious and he couldn’t look away from them.

“That is a good question. She was going to call her boyfriend. Probably got wrapped up in a conversation.”

“So, you know my name is Joe, what about you?”

“Oh, I’m sorry, I’m Julia.” She said quickly.

Promo Tour: Every October by Aubree Lane

by Aubree Lane

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Being dead isn’t as easy as you think.

Tied to the cemetery where her remains came to rest, the ghost of Zoey Harris is stuck. The only bright spot in her miserable afterlife is that every October she gets to visit her daughter. It’s typically a quick fly-by to see what costume she’s wearing for Halloween, but this year the five-year-old can not only sense her mother’s essence, she can see her. The adventure begins when Zoey grows more confident in her newfound haunting abilities and decides to sneak a peek and see what her husband has been up to.

Until death do us part was all Caleb promised. To have the specter of his dead wife reappear the moment he finds the courage to take off his wedding band is the stuff nightmares are made of. Their daughter loves it when Zoey drops by each fall, but he’s tired of the sadness and grief. Caleb needs more…even if it means chaining Zoey to her headstone for all eternity.

THE PULL GREW EACH OCTOBER. The urge to check in on her family was overwhelming. Zoey leaned her wispy frame over her daughter’s bed and kissed her forehead. The little girl blew out a contented sigh and nestled deeper into her pillow.

The scar running down the middle of Amy’s brow had faded to white. A second scar across her nose was barely noticeable. Zoey smiled. The plastic surgeon did an exceptional job. In another year, both scars would vanish.

Her best and only friend appeared beside her. “Here you are. I should have known.”

“Hush. Don’t wake her.”

Prue rolled her eyes. “Please, she’s a kid. I could scream at the top of my lungs and she wouldn’t move a muscle.” She gazed down at the angelic five-year-old and the tone of the older ghost softened. “Look how much she’s grown. I have to hand it to you, Zoe, you gave birth to a cute little sweetie pie.”

Zoey glowed with pride at the compliment until the memory of the car crash rushed in. It had been touch and go for the toddler. Every time Amy’s chubby arms reached out for her, Zoey pushed her away and told her to be with her father. Shunning her child was worse than dying, but Amy was only three years old. She was far too young to pass through the barrier between life and death. Guilt and sorrow filled every inch of Zoey’s ghostly being. “Then I almost caused her death.”

Icy fingers gouged her arm. Prue pulled her aside and chided, “Zoe, I love you, but you have to let it go. The accident might have been your fault, but Amy and Caleb didn’t die. You did. They’re fine.”

Amy’s sleepy voice called out, “Mommy?”

Prue’s eyes went wide as saucers. She hesitated for barely a moment before evaporating into thin air.

Zoey glided back to her daughter’s bed. “Yes, baby. It’s me.”

The five-year-old’s eyes never wavered. “I knew you’d come.”

Amy could sense when her mother was near, but it wasn’t possible for Zoey to manifest her spectral self. She wondered what Amy saw when she looked at her. “Smarty pants.” Zoey chuckled. “What gave me away?”

“Daddy asked me what I wanted to be for Halloween. That’s when you come.”

Zoey’s heart swelled with love. Amy was so small when the accident happened, yet she still thought of her. “Don’t leave me hanging. What are you dressing up as this year?”

Cartoon princesses danced across the front of her daughter’s light blue pajamas when she sat up. “I’m going to be a birthday cake. Lauren is making it especially for me.”

Her ghostly ears perked at the unfamiliar name. Zoey hoped she was the new nanny, but she suspected her husband’s grief had passed and that Lauren was Caleb’s girlfriend. Jealousy flared white hot.

Landmarks Series

by Laura Strickland

Genre: Historical Romance, Americana

Accused of ruining Mae Ballard and faced with a shotgun wedding, Jefferson Lind knows exactly who’s to blame. He’s been taking the fall for Jedediah’s sins as long as he can remember. Mae’s a shrieking shrew, and he hasn’t seen Jed, his identical twin, since they worked digging the Erie Canal together. If he’d been ordered to marry Mae’s sweet younger sister Rosie, instead, he sure wouldn’t complain.

Rosie’s the only member of her family who believes Jeff, and she’d go to any lengths to free him from her sister’s clutches. But when Jedediah turns up with violent thugs on his tail, things quickly grow more dangerous. Gamblers from Buffalo seize both sisters as hostages, prompting a daring impersonation. Can Jeff and Jed shed their troubled past and win the hearts of the women they love?

She poured some of the septic powder she’d brought into the basin. “Let’s get you cleaned up first, eh?”

A few of the scrapes were deep. Clearly he’d had a go at washing them off and done a poor job. The next few moments were painful to both of them. Rosie hated hurting anyone, except maybe Mae. Her sympathetic agony, however, was offset by the sheer pleasure of touching him.

By heaven, to have such a man beneath her hands! He smelled like sunshine, fresh air and tangy male, and it went straight to her head.

She concentrated on separating herself from the feelings surging through her and failed completely when he suddenly raised his hand and touched her cheek.

“What happened to you?”

All sense had gone out of Rosie’s mind; she had to search it to remember.

“Oh, that was Mae.”

“Mae?” His tawny eyes narrowed between their swollen lids. “She hit you?”

Rosie smiled ruefully. “She did.”

“Nasty baggage. She left a bruise.”

“Don’t worry about me, Mr. Lind.”

“I think you should call me Jeff, don’t you? Seeing as how you’re the one person in the world who believes I’m not a liar.”

“Jeff,” Rosie repeated, suddenly breathless.

“My misbegotten brother is Jed—Jedediah and Jefferson.” Humor tinged his voice. “I’m called after the great president.”

“Lucky you.”

“Never been lucky, no not me.” His eyes looked into hers, dodging nothing. “At least, I never was.”

Cover Reveal: Life Without You by S.P. West

by S.P. West

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publisher: Paper Gold Publishing
Cover Designer: Designs by Dana
Re-release Date: Nov 15, 2017

Note: previously released Oct 28, 2016. Re-edited

Once upon a time in a land not so far away, a man and a woman fell in love. They were very happy. Until one day they weren’t – their happily ever after disappeared.

This is their story.

Have you ever been in love?

The kind of love that leaves you breathless and makes you feel like you can fly?

I have…. It was the biggest mistake of my life. I let him become my everything; my sun, moon and stars but that wasn’t enough for him.

What he did nearly destroyed me.

My husband’s betrayal taught me the hard way that once trust is gone, it can never be regained. He won’t ever be part of my life again.

If I could sum myself up in one word, just one, then personally I’d pick fool. Misguided, dumb fool.

I made a mistake.

A mistake so big that the future I had planned out with the love of my life vanished in the blink of an eye. I didn’t see it at the time. That would have been too easy, by the time I realized what I lost it was too late. It was my own fault; I can’t blame anyone else. Because of it I lost the one woman that meant everything to me.

But I’m telling you now if fate ever gives me a second chance with her……I swear I’ll never let Summer slip away from me again.

“I love you Summer, I do, I’m just not in love with you anymore.” His voices hitches at the end.

My knees buckle under me and I double over in pain. He scoops me up in arms and holds me tight. For a moment, I feel at peace, closer to my husband than have been in ages and then it hits me.

“Nonononono.” I cry into his chest. “I love you Alex and I know you love me. I know you do.”

“Not in the way you want me to,” He says sadly, as he strokes my hair.

“You’re lying.”

“Sum I’m…”

“We can fix this, we’ll see a therapist,” I interrupt.

“No, we can’t Summer, I’m sorry.”

“Why? Why can’t we fix this? We were happy Alex… What’s changed so much that you want to leave me?”

He doesn’t say anything but gently pushes me off his lap and onto the bed. He grabs the suitcase off the floor and carries it to the door.

“You want to know why, Summer?” His face once again wearing the mask of indifference that I had grown used to, “you honestly want the truth?”

“Yes” I whisper.

“The truth is I don’t know. I only know I want out.” He looks at the floor before looking back at me. “I’ll get the rest of my stuff another day, when we’ve had time to cool down.”

I look at him in paralyzed horror, unable to utter a word. I swear my heart has shattered into a dust so fine that it will never be whole again.

“I didn’t mean for any of this to happen Sum. I’m… “

“Don’t you dare say you’re sorry!”

“I am Sum, I’m really, really sorry.” He stutters and turns and walks out the door, out of my life.

The Cinderella Romances, book 2

by Petie McCarty

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Garrett Tucker inherits his grandfather’s casino empire and steps into the reclusive billionaire’s shoes as the “Prince of Vegas.” His first act is to buy a bankrupt casino in Biloxi. When he discovers embezzling in his new operation, Garrett goes in undercover. His prime suspect is the new finance supervisor—the spitfire brunette who stole his heart at first sight.

Andi Ryan moves to Biloxi to care for her godmother and takes a job as finance supervisor for the renovated Bayou Princess casino. She discovers someone is skimming from the till and starts her own investigation, worried she will be blamed for the theft when the new owner discovers her godmother has a gambling addiction.

Garrett’s rival Vegas competitor has sent a spy in to ruin the Bayou Princess, and Garrett and Andi are forced to work together to prove her innocence and discover the identity of their casino spy.

Garrett mentally kicked himself. He had gone and scared her.

Too much. Too soon.

But he couldn’t make himself move. He could lie here forever with Andi in his arms.

She wriggled from his grasp to sit up. “Um . . .”

She looked too uncertain.

Not good.

He was okay with, “Not now, but maybe later.

“I can’t,” she whispered.

Good thing he was sitting down. The jangle of fear that hit him could have knocked his knees out from under him.

“Can’t or won’t?” he forced out. No maybes on this one.

What the hell? Can’t and won’t?

All his uncertainties flooded back. Flora had said Andi and Peters were just friends. Was that friends with benefits? And what about that damn Drakos pawing her last week? No, he wouldn’t let those doubts crowd them here on the couch.

“Too soon?” he tried.

“Partly.” She looked away, and his heart sank amongst the growing heap of doubts.

“There’s someone else,” he said flatly, working to keep his expression blank and the hurt at bay.

She met his gaze square on then, no doubt trying to muscle her courage. “There’s something I should tell you.”

“I’m—” She exhaled hard. “—no good at it.”

What? Is that all?

He fought back a grin of pure joy. “I’ll give you lessons.” He pulled her back for another kiss.

She shoved at his chest. “No. I don’t think I should.”

She flinched at his expression, and he worked to smooth his scowl.

“Go ahead. Spit it out.” Even he didn’t like his tone. “You’re sleeping with someone else, right?”

He should have done his homework before he went off half-cocked with all the flowers and balloons, trying to woo her.

“No, and I should slap you for that, suggesting I’m loose enough to go out with you while sleeping with someone else.”

“Then what the hell is it?” he shouted, forgetting all about Flora at the back of the house.

“I’ve never done it before!” she shouted back.

“What? Slapped someone?”

“No, you jerk. Slept with someone.” This, she didn’t shout.

He froze, right down to his heartbeat, and stared at her bright-pink cheeks. Could it be? Was she? A virgin?

“Holy smokes,” he wheezed.

She stared at her untouched glass of wine. “I’m not saying you and I will never,” she said softly.

Relief, warm and desperate, allowed his muscles to finally move. He gently traced the line of her cheek with his finger, a lump forming in his throat at the touch of something so rare and priceless.

“Glad to hear that.” He brushed his lips across hers, light as a whisper. Once. “My little sweetheart.” Twice. “My precious—” Three times. Always a charm.

“You’re not mad?”

Those big blue eyes stared up at him with an innocence that made his too-experienced heart ache with emotion.

Should he tell her he wanted to go outside and howl his joy at the moon? To yell to the world what a lucky son of a gun he was? His Andi would be his Andi—proprietary, like his stock portfolio. All his. No one else. A primal sense of possessiveness overwhelmed him.

“No, sweetheart, not mad. Glad,” he managed, then tugged her close and let his kiss show her exactly how he felt.

“When you’re ready,” he said against her lips. “Only when you’re ready.”

He had finally said and done the right thing, for she grabbed his shirt and laid an eye-crossing kiss on him.

Cinderella’s fairy tale moves to Jupiter Island, Florida where Lily Foster, owner of an eclectic landscape nursery, is mistaken for a wealthy socialite by billionaire resort developer Rhett Buchanan. Overdue for a little romance in her life, Lily is anxious for one fabulous date with her handsome prince, so she cultivates her inadvertent masquerade.

Rhett Buchanan has become jaded with the Palm Beach social scene, dominated by scheming women desperate for more money — his money. Rhett falls hard when he meets Lily Foster. She is a breath of fresh air after the smog of gold diggers constantly surrounding him.

For Rhett and Lily, it’s love at first sight until her deception comes to light and pitches their relationship into a disastrous tailspin. Well-meaning friends are determined to intercede and resort to inept high jinks to reunite the estranged couple while a wicked ex-girlfriend plays dirty to keep the couple apart.

Petie spent a large part of her career working at Walt Disney World — “The Most Magical Place on Earth” — where she enjoyed working in the land of fairy tales by day and creating her own romantic fairy tales by night, including her new series, The Cinderella Romances. She eventually said good-bye to her “day” job to write her stories full-time. These days Petie spends her time writing sequels to her regency time-travel series, Lords in Time, and her mystery-romance-with-elements-of-suspense series, the Mystery Angel Romances.

Petie shares her home on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee with her horticulturist husband, a spoiled-rotten English Springer spaniel addicted to pimento-stuffed green olives, and a noisy Nanday conure named Sassy who made a cameo appearance in Angel to the Rescue.

Prue Lockhart has loved Leo Nolan for as long as she can remember.
From the first moment she saw him, through the years he spent fighting overseas, until he returned home, broken and beautiful.

He was always meant to be hers.

He just hasn’t realized it yet.

For the past four years, Leo hasn’t cared enough to want anything from this world, except whiskey—or vodka, or bourbon, or beer. Until he meets her, and suddenly, she’s all he’s ever wanted. But after a murky night together, he wakes up to discover the woman in his bed isn’t merely a pretty girl he picked up at the bar.

She’s his best friend’s little sister.

And she’s in trouble.

But as the failed mission four years ago proves, Leo can’t be the one to help Prue. No matter how delicious the madness that keeps pulling him to her.

Prue stared at the man standing in her bedroom, wondering where the guy she’d brought home last night had gone.

Sober now, and alert, a hardness clung to him as a cold, inscrutable mask. No passion simmered in his green eyes.

“What’s your name?” He bit out the words.

She wanted to lie, though she didn’t know why. “You know my name.”

“I want to hear you say it.”

“It’s Prue.”

His shock gave way to something else, something darker. The hairs lifted on her arms.
“Prue what?”

“Leo, why are you—?”

“Your last name,” he snapped. “What. Is. It?”

A nasty curse shot from him.

Alarm drove her to her feet. “Leo, what is going on?”

The words died in her throat when his gaze raked boldly over her body, zeroing in on all the places her flimsy sleepshirt didn’t provide cover. Her heart performed a series of perilous flips.

“You’re Owen’s kid sister?”

She blinked at him. “You know I am.”

“What are you talking about? I have no idea who you are.”

“Of course, you do. We’ve met before. Several times.” She spoke around the sand filling her mouth.

“When you came home with Owen on your first leave, and at your graduation—”

“That was ten years ago.” He drove a hand through his hair and tugged at the ends.

“It was eight.”

“How in the hell am I supposed to remember something that happened eight years ago? Hell, I don’t even remember what happened last night.”

Excerpt 2

“I don’t want to hurt you,” he said thickly.

“You can’t.” A smile found its way to her lips. “But if it makes you feel better, we’ll use a safe word.”

His brows slammed together. “What now?”

“You know, like they do in the sex clubs. A safe word. Like banana or Oklahoma.”
His rusty laugh carried on the night air. “Holy shit, this is the most fucked-up conversation I’ve ever had sober.”

Her laughter mingled with his. “Have I managed to convince you yet?”

“I don’t know what’s happening. I just keep hearing the word sex and everything else is a drone.”

“Okay, then hear this: Leo, I want you. For sex, not marriage. Maybe friendship, but that’s probably a slippery slope. When this is over, we’ll go our separate ways, as if we never met. What do you think?”

He snagged the zipper of her sweatshirt and tugged her to him. “I think I’m in trouble.”
